Are you insane? You lost your marbles, but still have you car? The Capetown Challenge is a bizarre overland rally from Europe to South Africa. It’s a zero assistance challenge without ambulances, television choppers, catering trucks, mechanics, pom-pom girls, detailed roadbooks or hospitality suites. It’s just you against the African roads and the passing time.

After the accident Angel and Killer look puzzled. They still have 9000 kilometers to drive.

START

You may start the rally at any of the following cities and dates, but you need to finish by February 17, 2010 midnight

Nordkapp, Norway – January 2010 (exact date to be discussed)
Budapest, Hungary – January 17, 2010
Brescia, Italy – January 18, 2010
Montpellier, France – January 19, 2010
Almeria, Spain – January 20, 2010
Bamako, Mali – February 2, 2010

Nordkapp, Norway is the northern most point in Europe. Nordkapp means North Cape. So if you start from here you are doing the ulitmate Cape to Cape drive.

If you decide to start in Budapest, you will be starting alongside the famous Budapest-Bamako Rally and its 300 plus vehicles. The Bamako start of the Cape Town Challenge coincides with the finish of the Budapest-Bamako, so B2 teams who couldn’t get enough of Africa can endure more punishment. The first official checkpoint of the rally is Almeria, the second one is Bamako.

FINISH:

By February 17th, 2010 midnight you need to cross the entrance of the Victoria & Alfred Hotel in Cape Town. You will have four weeks to complete the journey from Europe to South Africa
